Cyber-bullying Research Guide
Directions
Read the four website articles. Follow the outline below to help you take notes and write your composition.
I. Intro
Cyber-bullying. The newest form. One that has developed into our new age of the internet and far away communication. Some have taken advantage of this to mess with others, and not just kids and teens. Adults have become involved as well. Can we stop this before it gets out of hand?
II. What is cyber-bullying?
A form of bullying that takes place on through online means such as e-mail, IMs, MySpace, texts, etc. From sending hurtful or threatening messages to posting nasty bulletins, there are virtually many ways for bullies to oppress the weak on the internet.
III. What are the effects of cyber-bullying?
People can become depressed, and lose their quality of life. They can become screwed up and eventually snap. And the consequences of that, I can only imagine. But it has happened. They might even become convinced that life is so unbearable, they should end it for themselves, as in the case of Ryan Halligan from Oregon, or Meagan Meier from
Washington.
IV. How can cyber-bullying be prevented?
The best way is to tell them to make sure they know who they’re talking to. Try and warn them of the dangers they face, and hope they can cope. Hope that they can make the right choice. You can also monitor their messages, but that would be an invasion of privacy to them, and you need that particular trust.
V. Conclusion
In conclusion, a great many things, learned, I have. Cyber-bullying is a very dangerous form of bullying. It has caused some to die. And the best ways to prevent this are not good enough. We must strive for a better solution, for the good of many.
